Walking in the Plantstreet in Satwa, Dubai, looking
for some plants to put in the garden, I entered one
shop and saw in the back a cage with this horrible,
ugly kitten. It was a kind of tabby and had the largest
nose I have ever seen on a kitten. I asked the
salesman, looking really worried, if he started selling
stray cats now! He looked serious at me and replied
proudly that this cat was a Siberian Angora. Oh, I
started laughing, shook my head and left the shop.
After having finished my shopping list I went home,
opened the computer and researched that ugly kitten.

The www said: The Siberian Angora exists in Russia
for thousands of years, their fur is triple coated to
guard for the Siberian winters. They supposedly
guarded the Siberian monasteries and warned the
monks against intruders. They have a dog like
character as being loyal, inventive and intelligent.

THAT IS DOMINIC

so .......... I went back and bought the most ugly cat I
have ever had, but .... he is now with me since 2002
and I never regretted one day, he is a great
companion to me and my dogs, one day he for sure
will start barking and swimming.

When I rented the apartment, the whole compound was empty as it was March. In May owners
came from all over Spain to spend weekends on the beach, but ... in the meantime DOMINIC had
arrived and had taken over the gardens of Costabella Resort.
Spanish people had never seen such a big cat, who scared away their dogs and slept in their
beds and on sun chairs in their gardens. One day my doorbell rung, I opened the door and in
front of me stood 2 important looking men (the cowards). They explained to me that they were
the president of the community and my neighbour (who had a big Golden Retriever) and that I
was requested to leave my "dangerous" cat indoors or leave the compound. The strange thing
was that they never had a problem with my Husky nor my Puppies !!!!!!!!!!!????????????
I left.

Dominic loves climbing, he
thinks anyway that the whole
house belongs to him and will
not be bothered with other
inhabitants like people, cats or
dogs.
Dominic changed coat for the first time in
8 years. Living in Dubai and Tanzania had
never made nature create a winter fur
coat for Dominic, now suddenly he was
twice his size and had a big collar, now for
the first time I saw what was meant with
triple coated fur from Siberia,
he is a real Siberian.

mountains with me and the dogs for hours
and many km scaring away all the stray dogs.
