The Siberian Husky The Siberian Husky’s origins can be traced to the ancient Chukchi sled dogs of the Kolyma River Basin in northern Siberia. The breed was developed and encouraged by the Chukchi people, an ancient tribe whose culture was based on the long-distance sled dog. These origins began some 2,000 years ago and evolved in the harsh conditions and climate of that region. The Chukchi’s sled dogs were required to travel enormous distances in order to hunt for their survival. They were bred to pull light loads at moderate speeds over incredible distances on relatively little food, and are the smallest of all native sled dogs. The Chukchi people valued their good, fast dogs highly and often traded amongst each other at the Markovo Fair, held on the Anadyr River. However, such was the isolation and lifestyle of the tribe, that it was not until the late 19th Century when fur trading and then the Gold Rush at the turn of the 20th Century made their influence on the breed that became known as the ‘Siberian Husky’.
I worked at Dubai American Academy as the Registrar when my beloved Persian cat died. Many teachers, parents & students offered their help to find a new kitten. 3 different people sent me on 3 different occasions to the European Veterinary Clinic on Sh.Zayed Road. 3 times during the time span of 2 months I went there and became really annoyed after the 3rd time as there was no trace of a young or older Persian cat. The strange thing was, when I inquired, that they never had any Persian cats. I only know that these friends had really been serious and honest, so I came to the conclusion that I had to go through each and every cage and look what this European Clinic had in store for me! I finished the whole first floor without result, looked at cats and dogs, I did not understand until ....... just before the stairs down was a cage with a tea towel in front of it, I pulled it away and there was the most beautiful young Siberian Husky in his own pooh. I called the staff and asked about the husky, they told me that he would be killed that evening, as he did not belong to anybody, was found in the desert with broken hip and leg, which were healed, but he could not get rid of the diarrhea since 4 months that he had been there. That day in May 2002 his future changed, he had reached his destiny: Marilyn's Husky; AZTEC but ......he was very insecure and nervous, with much time and love giving him the feeling of belonging and he finally after 4 months did his first hard pooh, we danced in the streets of Jebel Ali Village,

Huskies are the only dogs who can acclimatize to the highest and lowest temperatures, therefore Aztec feels comfortable everywhere, where he can be with me and his pet family.

Now Aztec has walked the deserts of the UAE, drove through the wide plains of Tanzania, walked the Spanish beaches and climbed the mountains of the Axarquia, more then many people ever did in a lifetime and .... he saw snow for the first time in his life here in Spain.
